Penny returns to Huntingdon Art Gallery with a collection of evocative meditations on her local landscape (the Fenland on the Norfolk-Suffolk border) alongside effusive mixed media flora. This includes one of her largest paintings to date, which has never been shown before.
Her love of nature and the materials she works with – from inks and paints through to the brushes, and foraged sticks and grasses that she uses to manipulate them – shines through in these beautiful artworks.

About the Artist: Penny Lindop
Penny is a painter who uses watercolour and mixed media to create loose semi-abstract paintings inspired by her local fen landscape, flowers and natural forms. In her own words:
The small elements in nature, the flowing grasses, the tiny wildflowers on their delicate stems, the stones, pebbles, lost feathers and fallen twigs draw me in, and it is these that inform much of my work. It was the small details that were important to me as an archaeologist years ago, and now it’s the snippets of memories and detail that pull me in.
I try to capture the birdsong and the tall reeds rustling in the wind, together with the open space that this environment offers.
My current work centres around flowers; I am exploring ideas of fading away, both of the flowers themselves, but also the fading of our memories.
