Fenscapes features contrasting approaches by artists inspired by the local landscape. From wanting to evoke aerial views to immersion in the grassland, from representation of specific views to the folklore of the fens.

About the Artists:
Lizzie Ault creates work inspired by the fenland folklore, wildlife and history. She’s based in Ely. Her ‘Tiddy Munn’ etching is based on a folk tale of the same name. ‘He is a small spirit that lives in watery places and looked after people of the fens.

Stuart Green lives and works in Ely. His paintings make bold use of colour and line to create a sense of place, grounded by shifting the horizon-lines up to focus on the landscape itself.

Roz Howling is based in Newmarket. Her latest prints developed from drawings made both on site and from photographs blend monotype, relief and intaglio techniques to create one-off artworks that resonate with colour and movement.

Hatty Richmond Dakin lives and works in Cambridge where she creates paintings about people and places. Her featured oil paintings have been made using grasses gathered from the fens as brushes and incorporated into the surface.
